Materials We Accept
Chico Creative Reuse accepts new and slightly used clean and safe materials that can be creatively reused by artists, educators, students, and makers. Your donations help keep valuable resources out of the landfill and in the hands of our community.
Donation Guidelines
- Donations must be clean, dry, and sorted when possible
- Please bring materials during designated donation hours
- If you’re unsure about an item, feel free to contact us before donating
🎨 Art & Craft Supplies
- Paint (acrylic, watercolor, tempera), inks, and dyes
- Brushes, palettes, canvas, panels, and frames
- Drawing supplies: pencils, markers, pens, charcoal, pastels
- Paper goods: cardstock, sketchbooks, specialty papers, scrapbooking materials
- Stamps, stencils, stickers, washi tape, embellishments
✂️ Fabric, Fiber & Sewing Materials
- Fabric (cotton, denim, upholstery, felt, etc.)
- Yarn, thread, embroidery floss
- Sewing notions: buttons, zippers, ribbon, trims, lace
- Patterns, sewing tools, knitting and crochet supplies
📦 Office, School & Teaching Supplies
- Binders, folders, notebooks, journals
- Pens, highlighters, rulers, scissors
- Classroom supplies and educational kits
- Craft kits (opened or unopened, with usable contents)
🧵 Miscellaneous Creative Materials
- Beads, jewelry-making supplies, wire
- Small hardware and fasteners (nuts, bolts, hinges)
- Wood pieces, dowels, small scraps
- Cardboard tubes, packaging materials, foam, cork
- Plastic containers, lids, spools, and interesting shapes
🧸 Toys, Games & Building Materials
- LEGO® and building bricks
- Board games (with complete pieces preferred)
- Educational toys and manipulatives
- Miniatures and figurines
🖼️ Found Objects & Upcycling Materials
- Picture frames
- Small household items suitable for art projects
- Unusual or hard-to-categorize materials with creative potential
What We Cannot Accept
To keep our space safe and accessible, we cannot accept:
- Broken, moldy, or heavily soiled items
- Hazardous materials (chemicals, solvents, aerosols)
- Electronics or appliances
- Food, cosmetics, or personal care items
